GEORGE V. CANBY
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery Chapel for George V. Canby of Tiburon, a retired contractor.
Mr. Canby, 83, died Tuesday at his son’s home in San Anselmo.
He was a native of Russia and left that country during the Russian Revolution when he was a cadet in the naval academy there.
Mr. Canby lived in France before coming to the United States in about 1920 and lived in New York before moving to Sonoma County in 1924.
Mr. Canby moved to Tiburon about 1930.
He worked for many years as a builder and contractor. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 35 for 43 years.
Mr. Canby was a member of the Marin United Taxpayers Association.
Survivors include two sons, Vadim G. Canby of San Anselmo and Igor C. Canby of Tiburon, and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley.
