RICHARD G. ADAMS

Richard B. (sic) Adams, retired Petaluma businessman and golf professional, died Sunday at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco hospital after a short illness. He was 76.

He moved to Petaluma in 1945 from his native state of Ohio and worked for Tomasini Hardware.

Mr. Adams then turned his golf hobby into an occupation and spent 20 years as the professional at the Petaluma Golf and Country Club.

He later owned and operated the Bundesen Seed Co. He sold that business in 1980 and worked as a custodian at Petaluma Junior High School until becoming ill two weeks ago.

During World War II he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and received the Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the American Defense Medal.

Mr. Adams was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Yong Men’s Institute.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Adams of Petaluma; two daughters, Jocelia Adams and Jeanne Cort, both of Petaluma; a son, R. Joseph Adams of Sonoma; four brothers, Frank and Sam Adams of Ohio, Louis and Robert Adams of Florida; two sisters, Louise Mayer of Florida and Agnes Melvin of San Rafael; and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Petaluma. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:30 tonight at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma.

Private burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Petaluma. The family prefers that contributions be made to a favorite charity.
