Bacigalupi, The Father Of Arcades, Dead

Peter Bacigalupi, father of Peter Bacigalupi, San Rafael City Councilman, and well known realtor, died last Saturday in San Francisco. He was 70 years of age. Death was caused from heart disease as the aged man was walking along Market street.

Bacigalupi, Sr., became well known and prominent in the earlier days by originating the “Penny Arcades,” out of which he made a fortune. He was also responsible for the introduction of the first talking machines in this state which added to his wealth.

During the big fire and earthquake Bacigalupi lost heavily, and later established several markets in San Francisco, and still later became interested in the real estate business.

He is survived by a widow, six daughters and two sons. The daughters are Mrs. Leon F. Douglas, Mrs. George Adams, Mrs. Fannie Oldham, Mrs. Sophie Williams, Mrs. J. M. Van Meter, Mrs. Mary Ackerman. The sons are Peter Jr. and Joseph Bacigalupi.
