IRA J. PERDUE

Ira J. Perdue, a retired Los Angeles deputy sheriff, died Tuesday at Novato Community Hospital two days after moving to Novato. He was 92.

Mr. Perdue was a native of Elmira, Solano County. He had lived in Southern California before moving to Marin.

He retired from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department in 1948 after working as deputy sheriff for 20 years.

As a Navy member during World War I, he was stationed at Mare Island. He was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club.

After retiring, he operated a welding shop out of his home.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Cameron Perdue of Novato; two daughters, Kate Talley Perdue at Novato and Mary L. Hamilton of Costa Mesa; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
