CATHERINE L. LIATI

A private service for Catherine L. Liati of Greenbrae was held today at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael. Mrs. Liati, 69, died Friday at Marin General Hospital.

She was born in San Francisco and reared in Ross. She attended Dominican Convent and graduated from Tamalpais High School. She lived in Marin until she married Louis J. Liati.

She and her husband lived in Southern California, Washington and Oregon before returning to Marin five years ago. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary next year.

Mrs. Liati had open heart surgery 25 years ago and lived with an experimental plastic valve. She also battled other health problems, fighting off disease with a stamina admired by her friends admired (sic).

A San Francisco doctor who treated her for lupis erythematosus for one year wrote a small book about her case.

She belonged to the St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Liati is survived by a son, Louis J. Liati Jr. of Minneapolis; a brother, Matthew Toomey of Vallejo; and two grandchildren.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the American Heart Fund.
