FLORA M. ANDERSON

A memorial service for Flora M. Anderson of Petaluma, who had a 43-year teaching career in Marin and Sonoma schools, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the United Church of Christ in Petaluma.

Mrs. Anderson died Saturday at a convalescent hospital in Petaluma after a lengthy illness. She was 91.

She was born in Two Rock to a family of early settlers. She attended Walker School, Petaluma High School and earned her degree in education at San Jose State College.

Mrs. Anderson first taught at Hicks Valley School and later was principal at Wilson School and Cinnabar School. Her career spanned 43 years and she retired in 1959.

At one time, she was very active in many local organizations, but had lived quietly in recent years.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the United Church of Christ of Petaluma and the National Teachers Retirement Association.

Her husband, Cyril Anderson, died previously. She was the last survivor of her family of eight children.

Private inurnment was at Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma.

Her family asked that memorial contributions go to a favorite charity.
