ARTHUR E. OJEDA
Arthur E. Ojeda, a Marin resident for 28 years and a retired Standard Oil Co. executive, died Friday at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco after a brief illness. He was 84.
Mr. Ojeda was born in Santa Rosalia, Mexico, and moved to Arizona as a youngster.
He joined Standard Oil of California in 1924, working his way from a service station attendant to president of Chevron Pacific Company, a lubricating oil marketing subsidiary of Standard Oil in Colombia.
During his 42 years with the company, he traveled extensively in every country in the Western Hemisphere, including the island countries of the Caribbean.
He moved to Greenbrae in 1959, seven years before retirement.
He pursued photography as a lifelong hobby and was a member of the Photographic Society of America. Mr. Ojeda’s works were featured in numerous exhibits on the West Coast and published in nationwide magazines. He received awards for both his still photos and a film he shot in 1934.
Mr. Ojeda is survived by his wife, Beatrice Ojeda of Greenbrae; two daughters, Betty Ojeda of Mill Valley and Marian Ojeda Green of Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles County; a sister, Ida S. Ojeda of Bisbee, Ariz.; a brother, Richard Ojeda of Camarillo, Ventura County; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael. Inurnment will be private.
The family requests that contributions be made to the University of Arizona Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, Ariz., 85721, or a favorite charity.
