Albert Canet’s Body Is Found In Bathroom Of M. V. Home
Albert Dan Canet Sr., 51, of 180 Edgewood avenue, Mill Valley, was found dead in his bathroom yesterday afternoon by his wife, Alta.
Mill Valley Police Chief James McGowan said Canet died of a gunshot wound near his heart. On the floor near him was a ,38 calibre revolver. Coroner Frank J. Keaton reported officially that the fatal wound was self-inflicted.
Canet, who was a tree surgeon, had just returned the day before from t he hospital where for two months he had been treated for a nervous breakdown. He was scheduled to re-enter the hospital for further treatment.
Mrs. Canet, who is employed as a waitress at a Mill Valley restaurant, had gone to work yesterday and called him on the telephone about 11 a.m. He told her he planned to rest all day. When she returned home at 3 p.m. she found his body.
He is survived by a son and three daughters, Albertson D. Canet Jr., Eva Brunini, and Bernice Robertson, all of Mill Valley, and Mildred Oliver of Point Reyes. He also had three brothers and a sister, Earl Hugh Canet of San Luis Obispo, Vincent M. Canet of Avila, and Joseph Andrew Canet, a captain in the Mill Valley police force, and Mrs. Bernice Guldbeck of San Francisco.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Russell & Gooch memorial chapels, Mill Valley, with interment in Golden Gate National Cemetery.
Canet was a member of Marin Rod and Gun club.
