WILLIAM L. SWANSON
A private memorial service for William L. Swanson of Mill Valley will be held Saturday at the United Methodist Church of Mill Valley.
Mr. Swanson died last Friday at Marin General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 85.
He lived for 60 years in Pennsylvania, where he worked as a roller in a steel mill near Pittsburgh. Mr. Swanson then moved to Sun City, Ariz., for 20 years.
He moved to California five years ago, living in Santa Cruz and Sebastopol before moving to Mill Valley.
Mr. Swanson was an avid harmonica player and singer. He was a veteran of World War I.
His wife, Mary Elva Swanson, died last May.
He is survived by two sons, William B. Swanson of Mill Valley and Dr. Robert Swanson of Fairfax; a sister, Dorothy Will of Duquesne, Pa.; a brother, Edward Swanson, also of Duquesne, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
