SARAH A. HOSMER
Private funeral services for Mrs. SARAH A. HOSMER of Inverness were held at Keaton's Mortuary Tuesday afternoon, following which the body of the aged woman, who lost her life when trapped in her burning home last Friday, was taken to the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland.
Because it was thought better to have private services, it is now planned to hold a public memorial service in Inverness for Mrs. HOSMER sometime next month, so that all her old friends may pay tribute to her memory.
Mrs. HOSMER, a real estate broker, 87 years old and well loved on the Marin west coast, was overcome with smoke when her home caught fire.
By the time the firemen arrived, it was impossible to get her out of the house, and death came to her, it is believed, while she was still unconscious.
The house was completely razed by flames, which presumably were caused by an oil stove explosion.
Mrs. HOSMER, a widow, had lived in Inverness 10 years.
The fire that caused her death was discovered gby JIMMY HOM, a Chinese lad, who was passing the house on his bicycle, and who turned in the fire alarm. The death of the fire victim has caused deep grief in Inverness.
