JAMES D. SMITH
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday for James D. Smith, of Sausalito, who died Sunday at the Sebastopol Convalescent Home. He was 99.
Mr. Smith, a native of Jonesboro, Tenn., moved to California in 1903 and worked 50 years for Northwestern Pacific Railroad. He retired in 1953 after many years of service as a locomotive engineer.
He also was an amateur beekeeper and past chancellor-commander and prelate of the Sausalito Knights of Pythias.
Survivors include three children: Fern MacNaughton of Santa Rosa, Shirley Blair of Forest Knolls and James D. Smith Jr. of St. George, Utah; nine grandchildren and 14 gret-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1183 Erwin Lane, Sebastopol.
