GEORGE BENNETT

Violent death came to GEORGE BENNETT, 81, Pt. Reyes Station, at 4:00 o'clock Thursday morning, when the octogenarian burned to death in his two-room cabin near the west Marin town.

Flames which completely destroyed his little hut was discovered simultaneously by HAROLD GENAZZI, rancher, and workers in the army observation post nearby. GENAZZI and the army boys were too late in arriving at the fire to save the old resident from death.

BENNETT was a well-known character of the west side having spent several years raising goats and chickens on the LEONARDO FILLIPINI ranch at Pt. Reyes Station.

According to A.C. PFEFFERKORN, fire marshall of the district, it is likely that the old man got up to light the morning fire which got out of control and was too feeble to extinguish the flames.

The Guy Jenness funeral directors are in charge of arrangements of the funeral.
