VIRGINIA McAVOY
Virginia “Jenny” Oppenheim McAvoy of Muir Beach died Monday at her home of cancer. She was 36.
Mrs. McAvoy was born in Fresno but grew up in Mill Valley, attending local schools. She graduated from Tamalpais High School and then San Francisco State University, where she earned her degree cum laude. She also earned a master’s degree in dance at Mills College.
At the time she became ill three years ago, she was teaching dance therapy at a residential facility for handicapped people in Cleveland. She returned to Marin about a year ago to be with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Michal McAvoy; her parents, Paul and Ann Oppenheim of Muir Beach; her brother, Paul Oppenheim of Los Angeles; and her sister, Sarah Oppenheim-Beggs of Foster City.
No services are planned at this time.
The family prefers memorial donations to cancer research.
