JAMES M. STIVESON
James M. Stiveson of Mill Valley, a retired bartender and former restaurant owner, died Tuesday at Marin General Hospital after a short illness. He was 96.
Stiveson, a native of Ohio, had lived in Mill Valley since 1930.
He formerly owned El Paseo Restaurant in Mill Valley and had worked for Brothers Bar in Mill Valley. He also worked for the Mill Valley Tennis Club.
He was a member of San Rafael Elks Club.
Mr. Stiveson is survived by his wife, Mae Stiveson of Mill Valley; a son, George Stiveson of Napa; a brother, Charles Stiveson of Mill Valley; two sisters, Helen McFaul of Palo Alto and Katherine Fusco of Sun City; and one granddaughter.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley. Friends may call for visitation at the funeral chapel after 2 p.m.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
