JOHN L. ZUNDEL
The funeral for John L. Zundel of Vallejo, father of Helen Willms of San Rafael, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Vallejo.
Mr. Zundel, 79, died Wednesday at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Utah and had lived in Vallejo for 45 years.
He worked for 30 years at Mare Island Shipyard as a welder supervisor. Before that, he worked for many years for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
He was a member of the Vallejo Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Vallejo Elks Lodge No. 559 and Sons in Retirement.
He also is survived by his wife, Irma Zundel of Vallejo; three other daughters, Sharon Lundeberg of Salt Lake City, Marlin Hanes of Green Valley, Solano County, and Kathe Davis of Vallejo; three brothers, Glen Zundel of Vallejo and Steve and Wayne Zundel of Utah; a sister, Naomi Anderson of Utah; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service held today at 7:30 p.m. at the Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home in Vallejo.
Friends may call at the mortuary today after noon.
The family prefers memorial gifts to Children’s Hospital of the East Bay.
