DORA EVANS
A funeral for Dora Evans, a lifelong Petaluma resident, will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Petaluma.
Mrs. Evans died Thursday at a Petaluma convalescent hospital after a short illness. She was 93.
Her parents were August and Louise Matzen, early settlers in the Petaluma area.
Mrs. Evans had been a homemaker all her life. She was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the St. Mary’s Ladies Guild of the church.
She married Arthur B. Evans in 1911 and they went on to rear 12 children. He died in 1952.
She is survived by two sons, Lew Evans of Petaluma and Hal Evans of Marshall; seven daughters, Louise Ostenberg of Brookings, Ore., Dorie Hansen and Blanche Lieb of Petaluma, Claire Matson and Grace Hunter of Penngrove, Bessie Moore of Sacramento and Alyne Anderson of Dillon Beach; 34 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma.
