Another Pioneer Has Passed Away
Adolph Gericke died last Friday, May 2nd, in his home at Fallon, near Tomales, aged 83 years.
Mr. Gericke was born in Hanover, Germany, April 26th, 1932, and when twenty years old came to California, and settled at Petaluma.
The following June he came to Marin county and took up land on San Antonio creek, then owned by James Black. Here he lived until February, 1856, when he moved to Big Valley, Sonoma county, and remained there seventeen months.
In 1857 he settled on land in Blucher Rancho, Marin county, where he remained for the rest of his life.
Mr. Gericke was one of our best citizens, and had numerous friends among the most substantial people in the county. His funeral was largely attended and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Tomales.
County Treasurer, Thomas Fallon, County Superintendent of Public School, J. B. Davidson and District Attorney, Thomas P. Boyd, and the Misses Boyd were among San Rafael friends who attended the obsequies.
