HERBERT M. MARCUS
A family service is planned for Herbert M. Marcus, of San Rafael.
Mr. Marcus, 62, died unexpectedly Sunday at Kaiser Hospital.
He was born in Pennsylvania and had lived in Cupertino and Sunnyvale since 1969. He moved to San Rafael about a year and a half ago, when he married his wife, Virginia Marcus.
Mr. Marcus was an engineer who had worked as a consultant and problem solver for the government and private firms, including the Federal Aviation Administration and General Electric Co. the last few years before he retired in 1983, he had worked as a Realtor in the South Bay.
During World War II, he served in the Army in various posts in Europe and North Africa.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Lawrence Marcus of Boulder Creek, Santa Cruz County; a daughter, Wendy Marcus of Mountain View; two sisters, Bea Seltzer of Florida and Janet Seltzer of Pennsylvania; two stepsons, William Gordon of France and David Gordon of San Rafael; two stepdaughters, Tracy Gordon of San Rafael and Marty Gordon of Shingle Springs, El Dorado County; and two grandchildren.
