ROY A SHAW
A private funeral for Roy A. Shaw, a longtime Petaluma resident, was to be held today at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma.
Mr. Shaw died Sunday at Petaluma Valley Hospital after a short illness. He was 88.
He was born in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada and served in Canadian Army during World War I.
Mr. Shaw lived briefly in Montana before moving to Petaluma 61 years ago. He worked 36 years for the Petaluma-Santa Rosa Railroad. He was a conductor when he retired in 1960.
He was a member of the Free Will Baptist church of Petaluma.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby I. Shaw of Petaluma; three sons, Leroy R. Shaw of Chicago, Ill.; Duane R. Shaw of Petaluma and Paul D. Shaw of Bloomington, Ill.; five (sic) sisters, Helen Fooks of Canada, Violet Congdon of Canada, Mae Pelton of Petaluma and Luella Lampson of Cloverdale; two brothers, George Shaw of Novato and Lou Shaw of Canada; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Private burial will be at Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma. The family prefers that contributions be made to the memorial fund at the Free Will Baptist Church, 200 Ely Boulevard South, Petaluma, 94952.
