Body Recovered

The body of Alexander Arnold, who was drowned off Black Point on May 17th, was recovered on last Thursday and brought to Sawyer’s undertaking parlors in this city.

The deceased was 33 years old, and lived in San Francisco. He was out in an ark with a party of friends, and contrary to advice, went into the water immediately after a hearty meal.

As he dived into the creek he called back, “Come on boys, to the invitation of a dying man.”

He was immediately seized with cramps and cried for help, but his friends thought he was playing until he sank to be seen no more.

Mr. Arnold was born in Japan. The body was sent to San Francisco for interment in the Holy Cross cemetery.
