BERNARD B. CARROLL

A memorial service for Bernard B. Carroll of Yakima, Wash., a former Novato and Petaluma resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Redwood Chapel Funeral Home in Novato.

Mr. Carroll, 60, died last Thursday in Madigan Army Medical Center at Fort Lewis, Wash., after a short illness.

He was born in Petaluma and graduated in 1942 from Petaluma High School. He served in the Army in World War II and joined the Air Force in 1950. He retired at the rank of major in the Air Force.

Mr. Carroll worked as a state traffic officer in the California Highway Patrol in the 1950s. He later founded and published a weekly newspaper, the Klamity Courier, in Willow Creek, Humboldt County.

He lived in Novato for several years in the 1970s when he owned and operated the Novato Theater and operated a Mayflower moving service.

Mr. Carroll belonged to the Kiwanis Club in Novato and was also a longtime member of the MENSA organization.

He moved to Yakima three years ago where he managed an apartment complex.

He is survived by two daughters, Diana Rubero and Linda Dahlstrom, both of Union City; a sister, Kathryn E. Tresch of Rohnert Park; and five grandchildren.
