MRS. MATHESON CALLED BY DEATH

Death summoned Mrs. Bolette M. Matheson, widow of the late Supervisor Matheson of Marin county at 10:30 Wednesday June 11th at the home of her son, Charles Matheson in the San Antonio district, and when the news of her death reached this city her many local friends expressed great regret. She had been gradually failing in health for the past two years and when her condition became serious she moved to the ranch of her son where she desired to spend her declining days.

Mrs. Matheson was one of the best known pioneer residents of Petaluma having resided here for the past forty-eight years. She came to California when about eighteen years of age and nearly every year since that time has been spent in Petaluma. She resided alone on Keokuk street until she left for her son’s ranch. She was a kind and loving woman and the community was made better by her being in its midst. The past few years of her life were spent very quietly and she very seldom went among her friends owing to her failing condition.

She was a native of Scleswig, Germany and was born on May 23, 1839. She celebrated her last birthday last month. She was the mother of four children, two of whom survive her. Charles conducts a ranch near this city while Walter resides in San Anselmo. The two sons are heartbroken over the loss of their mother who was a true Christian woman. She is survived by several grandchildren and two nephews in her native home. Mrs. Matheson was married in this state a number of years ago and her husband passed away several years ago.

The funeral was held from the home of her son on Friday morning at 11 o’clock. The services were conducted at the home. The interment was Cypress Hill cemetery. – Petaluma Argus
