ARTHUR R. SENTER

A memorial service for Arthur R. Senter of Sausalito, a onetime Strawberry area civic leader, is planned for mid-June.

Mr. Senter died Thursday at his home after a long illness. He was 69.

He was a native of Zion City, Ill. At the age of 10, he and his family moved to San Francisco. Mr. Senter spent most of his adult life in Marin.

For 44 years, he worked at the Bethlehem Steel shipyard in San Francisco, retiring as plant engineer in 1980.

Mr. Senter was a member and former chairman of the Strawberry Recreation District for 14 years. He was a leader in the development of the Strawberry recreation area and played an instrumental role in preserving open space in Strawberry. He was one of the founders of the Strawberry Little League.

Mr. Senter is survived by his wife, Margot Senter of Sausalito; and four sons, Arthur Senter of San Francisco, Peter Senter of Inverness, Edward Senter of Mill Valley and Guy Senter of Petaluma.

The family prefers contributions to the Hospice of Marin, 77 Mark Drive, San Rafael, 94903.
