DANIEL C. DAVIS
Daniel C. Davis, a former Marin banker and civic leader, died Wednesday in Sacramento at 78.
Mr. Davis was manager of the Wells Fargo Bank in San Rafael from 1953 to 1967.
He was born and reared in San Francisco, attending Lick-Wilmerding High School. He also attended the University of California at Berkeley and earned a law degree at San Francisco Law School.
During World War II he served in the Navy as a commander in the South Pacific.
Before coming to Marin, Mr. Davis managed a Berkeley branch of Wells Fargo. Upon leaving Marin, he went to Los Angeles to serve as vice president and Manager of the bank’s first branch there.
He retired in 1971.
While in Marin, Mr. Davis was a member of the San Rafael Rotary Club, serving as president at one time, and also the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce, Marin Safety Council and Meadow Club. He was a member of a San Francisco Masonic lodge.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Helen E. Davis of Sacramento; a son, Daniel M. Davis of Sacramento; and two grandchildren.
The family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity or the American Parkinson Disease Association.
