Dies from Auto Accident
An automobile driven by Rocca Ghisletti and occupied by Stephen Gilardi and two daughters and two sons, turned over on the Petaluma road, opposite the Novato school house at 8 o’clock on Sunday night, hurting all the passengers, and fatally injuring Stephen Gilardi, who died at the Novato Sanatorium on Tuesday night from the effects of the accident.
Ghisletti and Gilardi were both dairymen, natives of Switzerland, and were returning home from a Swiss picnic held in Schuetzen’s park on Sunday. They were speeding at the rate of fifty miles an hour, when in turning a sharp curve, the machine went over. The young people in the party were only shocked and bruised, and were able to leave the hospital in a little while, but Ghisletti’s wounds are of a serious nature, a broken knee being perhaps his worst hurt.
Gilardi has resided in Petaluma for many years, and was 62 years of age.
