HENRY CROMWELL
Novato Man is Burned to Death
A mysterious fire destroyed the home of HENRY CROMWELL, a Novato rancher, and burned the man to death on the morning of January 5th. Sarah Lobaugh, a neighbor, saw the fire at 2 o'clock in the morning, and immediately aroused the entire neighborhood who went to the scene of the fire. After the house had burned to the ground, Cromwell's charred remains were found on a couch in a reclining position.
Cromwell was last seen on the previous evening working among his chickens. He was well known in Novato. He leaves a wife and a son, Henry Cromwell, in San Francisco. He was 56 years old and was a native of New Jersey.
Coroner Sawyer held an inquest over the remains at Novato Monday afternoon. The verdict was that the man had come to his death by being accidentally burned.
