Another Fatal Auto Accident

One more man lies in the morgue as the result of an automobile accident on Wednesday night. At about eleven o’clock George Wetmore left San Rafael for his home at McNear’s in an automobile. On his way he picked up Nicholas Nissen and John Geehart, employees at the Golf links. As they were going over the Golf Links hill they found the street light near the top of the hill was out, and the lights on the machine did not show the road, as it is a very dark place. The machine was going at a slow speed, and as Wetmore was asking his companion if he could see the road the machine went over the bank.

Mr. Wetmore was pinioned under the machine and almost instantly killed, but the other men sustained only bruises.

The cause of the accident is attributed to the fact that the light was out and the road could not be seen. Passers by report that the street light was burning at 9 o’clock, but had been put out before eleven, either by some one throwing a rock or shooting the lamp.

Wetmore is a man between 40 and 50 years of age and he and his brother had charge of one of McNear’s stone quarry, and had recently received a $900,000 contract for stone for the Southern Pacific road.
