ALBERT J. CAMPBELL
A Masonic funeral for Albert J. Campbell, a retired San Quentin Prison officer, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.
Mr. Campbell, 77, died Sunday at his home in Boulder Creek, Santa Cruz County, after a long illness.
Mr. Campbell worked and lived at San Quentin for 33 years, retiring in 1972 as a lieutenant. He moved to Boulder Creek after his retirement.
He was a member of Marin Masonic Lodge No. 191, Marin Chapter No. 102 of the Royal Arch Masons, California Commandery No. 1 of the Knights of Templar, Redwood Empire Council No. 46 of the Cryptic Masons of California, Islam Temple of San Francisco, Islam Temple Provost Club, Marin Shrine Club, San Lorenzo Valley Senior Citizens and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Letitia “Tish” Campbell; a son, John Campbell of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Robert J. Campbell of Rohnert Park; three grandchildren; and his former daughter-in-law, Lynn Newsome of Boulder Creek.
Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
His family asked that memorial gifts go to the Shiner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, 1701 19th Ave., San Francisco, 94122, or a favorite charity.
Friends may call at the mortuary after 1 p.m. Thursday.
