RICHARD H. DeKAY
A private funeral will be held for Richard H. DeKay of Occidental, a former San Rafael resident.
Mr. DeKay died unexpectedly Monday in Santa Rosa. He was 64.
He had lived 25 years in Tiburon and San Rafael before recently moving to Occidental.
Mr. DeKay retired three years ago as vice president of the Crown Zellerbach Paper Co. He had had a career of nearly 40 years with the firm and headed the printing paper division.
He was born in Berkeley and graduated in 1943 from the University of California at Berkeley. He served in the Marine Corps in China during World War II.
Mr. DeKay was a very avid mountain climber and had climbed peaks all over North American and the Himalayas.
He was a member of the Sierra Club and the Himalayan Rescue Association.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jean DeKay of Occidental; a son, Daniel DeKay of Occidental; two daughters, Martha DeKay-Bemis of Occidental and Vicki DeKay of Berkeley; a brother Chuck DeKay of Lafayette; and two grandchildren.
His ashes will be spread over the Sierra. The family prefers that contributions be made to the Sonoma County Camp Foundation, post office box 3643, Santa Rosa, 95404.
