WILSON “BILL” D’ALVY

Wilson “Bill” D’Alvy of Mill Valley, a longtime optician and folk dancer, died unexpectedly May 22 of a heart attack on a Rohnert Park golf course. He was 80.

Mr. D’Alvy was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in San Francisco. For the past 27 years, he lived in Mill Valley.

He was an optician all his working years, retiring in 1973 from Kaiser-Permanente where he fitted contact lenses.

Mr. D’Alvy was an active folk dancer and taught folk dance workshops in Marin for 27 years. He was a member and past president of the Folk Dance Federation of California, the Marin Dance Council, the Hardly Ables of Marin and the Step-Togethers of Marin. He also was a member of the Tamalpais Golf Club, the Marin Rod and Gun Club and past “big sir” of the Sons in Retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Ann of Mill Valley; two daughters, Sharon Pitchford and Michelle Bader, both of San Jose; two sons, Fred Reisinger of San Francisco and David Reisinger of Anchorage; and four grandchildren.

At his request, there was no service. The family prefers contributions to the American Heart Association.
