John Pedersen, Retired Marine Engineer, Dies
Funeral services were held today at Keaton’s mortuary for John Pederson of San Rafael, retired marine engineer for the Golden Gate ferries and resident of Marin for the past 30 years. A native of Berger, Norway, he was 75.
Pedersen died today at a local hospital after a long illness. He leaves his widow Ragnhild at 1115 B street, San Rafael, where the couple had lived for the past three years. They were in Sausalito for 27 years before moving to San Rafael.
Besides his widow, Pedersen leaves two sons, Harry J. Pedersen of San Rafael, PG&E electric meter tester, and Ralph K. Pedersen, Sausalito fireman; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Donahue of Santa Rosa; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Pedersen was a member of the international union of Operating Engineers, San Francisco. Besides working as marine engineer for the ferries he was at one time stationary engineer for the Sausalito distillery. He had retired about 11 years ago.
Funeral services in San Rafael were followed by cremation in Santa Rosa.
