Falls to Death

Monday while working on a lift on the twelfth floor of the structure which is to be the Hobart building, corner of Market and Montgomery, San Francisco. Herbert E. Jones fell from that altitude to the basement meeting instant death.

It appears that Jones, who was a former well known contractor of San Rafael, was working on a lift in the light shaft when a heavy steel girder which was being swung into place by ironworkers on the 18th floor, slipped from their control and dropped striking the lift and hurling the carpenter down with it.

The funeral services will be conducted from the parlors of N. Gray and Company, 2198 Geary street, corner Divisadero, in San Francisco, at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 29th, by Marin Lodge No. 191, F. & A. M. of which Mr. Jones was a member. Members will take the electric train leaving the Union depot at *:28 or from B street at 8:30.
