Killed By Railroad
On Thursday morning Nicholas Regan, a teamster of Sausalito, was run over and killed by an early train near Waldo Point. The man was seen on the track but not in time to stop the train, and the body was badly mangled.
The body was brought to San Rafael. One theory is that Regan committed suicide, but others think he was under the influence of liquor, and fell or laid on the track in a helpless condition.
His right arm was torn off at the shoulder, both legs were broken, head badly bruised and face disfigured, right arm and throat were badly burned by contact with the power rail.
Three hours before the accident Regan was restless and was prevented from jumping out of the window of his home. A few minutes before the accident he was seen by Motorman Will Richie walking along the track. He was about thirty-two years of age.
