Death Calls Dominican Sister
Last Thursday marked the death of Sister Mary Stanislaus McCarthy, of the Dominican College. She had long been suffering from various infirmities when pneumonia set in and brought her life of 72 years to a close. A native of Ireland, she had spent 50 years in California and for 46 years has worn the veil. Twenty years of service in the Dominican convent had endeared her to the hearts of every one there, and although living in seclusion had many friends outside the college.
The funeral took place from the convent, where a high mass was celebrated for the repose of her soul, under the direction of the Edward Eden undertaking parlors. Interment at Venicia was the last rite paid to her passing.
