THEODORE ARTZ
A Mass of Christian Burial for Theodore Artz, 83, a retired building contractor and former resident of Marin, was held Saturday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Santa Rosa.
Artz, of Santa Rosa, died Thursday at a local hospital after an illness.
He had been a resident of Marin for more than 30 years before moving to Santa Rosa 11 years ago.
Artz had been a member of the Knights of Columbus in Fairfax and a member of St. Rita’s Church. He was an army veteran of World War I and a member of World War I Barracks and Santa Rosa Senior Citizens. He was a native of South Dakota.
Surviving are his wife, Irene M. Artz of Santa Rosa, two daughters, Margaret Crone of Los Angeles and Marilyn (Pinkie) Ezekiel of Fairfax, two stepdaughters, Zettie Pipkins of Citrus Heights and Edwina Combs of Ukiah; a stepson, Charles V. Paul of Santa Rosa; a brother, Edward Artz of Chicago; two sisters, Emma Weber of Los Angeles and Emily Griesmer of Florida; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Private burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
