Col. FREDERICK C. HALLOR

A memorial service for Col. Frederick C. Hallor of Larkspur, a resident of Marin since 1926 and a World War II Air Corps commander, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ross.

Hallor, 77, died Thursday at a San Francisco hospital following a long illness.

Hallor was a native of Kentucky and in 1926 moved to Marin, where he married his wife, Mary, a Marin native.

Hallor spent most of his life in the armed service, serving in the Army, the Army Air Corps and t he Air Force.

He was the officer in charge of Air Corps fliers on Dec. 7, 1941 in Hawaii when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He received a Silver Star for his valor that day. He served in the Pacific during World War II. He also received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the Navy’s Distinguished Flying Cross during his career. He retired several years ago.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Artie L. Gobil and Albert E. Hallor; a daughter, Mary H. Walk; a brother, Edward B. Hallor; two sisters, Ethel Filler and Lucille Pidgeon; and six grandchildren.

Burial will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery, Colma. The family prefers memorial donations to a favorite charity.
