ROWENE KERLIN
Retired teacher

Rowene T. Kerlin of Larkspur died Sept. 11. She was 91.

She was born in Fort Bragg and graduated from the University of Nevada. She earned a master’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley.

She worked as an instructor of foreign language and music at Santa Rosa Junior College.

She was affiliated with the Kappa Alpha Thetas, Kent Woodlands Guild, the Northgate group of the Marin Art and Garden Center and the Sunny Hills Guild. She was a past captain for the women’s golf group at the Meadow Club.

She enjoyed teaching, opera, golf, travel and driving her car. She was a Giants fan.

Her husband, Lewis “Red” Kerlin, died previously.

She is survived by a son, John Kerlin of Larkspur; a daughter, Marty Kerlin Fish of Washington; three granddaughters and a great-granddaughter.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 23, at the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Sunny Hills, CASA or a charity of choice.
