Joseph E. Brighenti of Novato died unexpectedly Monday at Novato Community Hospital after an illness. He was 43.
Arrangements were pending at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato.

JOSEPH E. BRIGHENTI Jr.
A funeral for Joseph E. Brighenti Jr. of Novato, a Terra Linda High School English teacher, will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Valley Memorial Park Chapel in Novato.
Mr. Brighenti, 43, died Monday at Novato Community Hospital.
He was born in Wisconsin and came to California 20 years ago.
He had been a teacher and administrator for San Rafael School District since 1965. His administrative posts included assistant principal at San Rafael High School and principal at Davidson Middle School. He also coached football and basketball at Terra Linda and San Rafael high schools.
Mr. Brighenti received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English and administration from Wisconsin State University. He also studied at the University of Southern California.
In addition to teaching, he owned Onset Productions, a sports poster company.
Mr. Brighenti is survived by his wife, Sharon Brighenti of Novato; a son, Joseph E. Brighenti III of Novato; his parents, Joseph and Lucille Brighenti of Wisconsin; and a sister, Lorraine DeMario of Minnesota.
Friends may call at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato between noon today and noon Friday. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park in Novato.
