Frank I. Whelan Is Laid To Rest
Frank I. Whelan, San Anselmo man who lost his life on a bay fishing trip March 30, was laid to rest in Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Monday. His body was found on the rocks at Belvedere Point last Friday. The funeral was held from the Keaton & Dusel mortuary, San Rafael, and the cortege then moved to St. Anselm’s church where a mass was said for the repose of his soul by Monsignor McElroy.
Pallbearers were Ambrose Kirwin, John Fitzgibbons, Dare Morgan, Al Morgan and Dean and Nicholas de la Montanya. Honorary pallbearers were James Whelan, Walter Castro, Harry Parker, Henry Quan and Ed McNamara.
Surviving Whelan are his widow, Mrs. Hazel Whelan, Mrs. Albert Helliksen, Mrs. George Pettigrew and Mrs. Luke Eastman, sisters, and a brother, William Whelan.
Frank Whelan was drowned with Harry Whelan and Rudolf Wernecke. The bodies of the last two were found a week after the tragedy.
