BYRON E. COOK
A funeral for Byron E. Cook of San Rafael, a retired San Rafael firefighter, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael. Mr. Cook, 88, died Wednesday at the Hillside Manor Convalescent Home in San Rafael.
He was born in Oregon and moved to Santa Rosa as a child. He lived in Marin County for 43 years. He was a volunteer fireman for 18 years before he was hired by the San Rafael Fire Department. He worked as a regular firefighter for 25 years, retiring in 1962.
His wife, Meta Cook, and son, Byron Cook Jr., both preceded him in death.
He is survived by a sister, Florence Holm Kennedy; a grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery.
