ALBERT W. HAND
Albert W. Hand of Mill Valley died Friday at Hillhaven Convalescent Hospital in Mill Valley after a brief illness. He was 80.
Mr. Hand was a native of New York. He worked for some 50 years as a carpenter in New York City. Moving to Mill Valley about 13 years ago, he became assistant manager for Innsbruck Apartments.
His family said he was a well-known character in Mill Valley, who could frequently be seen with his hat and cigar, riding his bicycle.
He is survived by his wife, Nora Hand of Mill Valley; two daughters, Joan D’Amico of Mill Valley, and Rita M. Hand of Pleasant Hill; a son, James A. Hand of Miami; a brother, Harry Higbie of Florida; two sisters, Dorothy Carroll and Violet Stein of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mill Valley. Inurnment will be private.
The family prefers memorial gifts to be sent to Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, Peninsula Chapter, 457 Kingsley Ave., Palo Alto, 94301.
