Col. W. H. Trift, U. S. V., formerly Adjutant General of the State of Iowa, died on Monday night, March 23rd in the Army and Navy Hospital, Hot Spring, Ark. He will be buried in the National cemetery at Arlington, Va. Col. Trift paid a visit, about a year ago to his sister, Mrs. Capt. Kane, of San Rafael, and while he was here he became a great admirer of this city.
