GEORGE T. WARK
A funeral for George T. Wark of Novato will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo.
Wark, 60, died Saturday in a local hospital after an illness of several months.
Wark was a native of Illinois and lived in Cincinnati before moving to Marin 25 years ago.
He flew a P-47 fighter with t he Army Air Corps during World War II and was a prisoner of war for two years after being shot down over Germany.
Wark went into the construction industry after settling in Marin and for the past 2 ½ years was an independent general contractor.
Wark was a member of Marin Lodge No. 191, Free and Accepted Masons; Marin Chapter No. 102, Royal Arch Masons; Redwood Empire Council No. 46, Royal and Select Masters; Marin Commandry No. 73, Knights Templar; Islam Temple; Islam Golf Club; Marvelous Marin High 12 Club; Scottish Rite; Worthy Patron of Novato Chapter No. 609, Order of Eastern Star; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1243.
He is survived by his wife, Alverna, and two children, Karen and Tom C. Wark, both of Novato.
Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
His family asked that memorial gifts go to the American Cancer Society or the Shriners’ Hospital for Crippled Children, San Francisco
