Despondent Girl Takes Her Life

Because of a nervous strain, supposed to be due to over-study, Mary Saustina Azevedo destroyed her life by drowning herself in a small slough near the Larkspur ball grounds early Friday morning. Her mother had left the house earlier in the morning to visit her mother and it was while her sister Rosa was engaged in household duties that she slipped away and committed suicide. On her failure to return a search was instigated by her brother Enos disclosing the drowned body.

Every effort was made by Dr. McCue and Mrs. M. Murphy to resucitate the girl but to no avail. Coroner F. W. Sawyer of San Rafael was summoned and took charge of the body.

The deceased was the daughter of Ignacio F. and Rosa Azevedo and sister of Fostino, Rosa, Enos, and Henry Azevedo. Born in Portugal, she was twenty-three years of age, having spent all but about two years of her life in Larkspur.
