There will be an informal memorial service from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Muir Woods Park Improvement Club for Frances E. Bolei of Mill Valley, a former legal secretary and a jazz fan.

Mrs. Bolei, 58, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 21, 1991, at her home.

She was born in Portland, Ore., and grew up in Los Angeles, graduating from Hollywood High School. She had lived in Mill Valley for 27 years.

She formerly worked as a legal secretary for many years.

She had a long interest in jazz and was the producer of the Marin jazz festival in 1985, “Jazz on the Mountain.”

She was a founding member of Bridge the Gap, an organization that helps people with AIDS.

Mrs. Bolei is survived by her husband, Marvin A. Bolei of Mill Valley; her daughter, Maria E. Bolei of Castro Valley; and two stepchildren, Mark and Christopher Bolei, both of San Rafael.
