CHARLES VAN SCHALSCHA
A Memorial Mass for Charles Van Schalscha of San Rafael will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Blessed Sacrament Church in San Rafael. Mr. Van Schalscha, 64, died Monday at Fort Miley Veteran’s Hospital.
He was born in New York and moved to California as a child.
Mr. Van Schalscha worked for Blue Shield Insurance Co. for more than 30 years. He retired in 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Van Schalscha of San Rafael; two sons, Charles Van Schalscha of Sacramento and Craig Van Schalscha in San Rafael; a stepfather, Anthony Kapcynski of Washington, D.C.; a stepsister, Hazel Brinkley of Queens, New York City; and two grandchildren.
Burial will be private.
The family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity instead of flowers.
