Thomas McDermott Drowns in River
Guard at San Quentin prison for several years and former employee of the Key System, Oakland, Thomas Patrick McDermott, was swimming in the Russian River last Sunday, near Rio Dell, went in beyond his depth, and was drowned.
His sorrowing wife, and family living at San Anselmo received the tragic news with a shock, and his numerous friends, offered their consolation and sympathy to the bereaved.
Mr. McDermott is 42 years of age, born in Ireland. Surviving are his wife, one daughter and two sons: Mrs. Evelyn McDermott, Mary Catherine McDermott, Thomas Patrick, Jr., and John Charles McDermott. The funeral was held Wednesday from the chapel of Keaton and Dusel, San Rafael, thence to St. Anselm’s Church, San Anselmo with mass at 9 a.m.
Mr. McDermott was a World War veteran, and interment took place at the National Cemetery, Presidio, San Francisco.
