“Billy” Petersen, Ex-Game Warden Dies While Hunting
William M. Petersen, former State Game Warden, who has served on fish and game patrol boats, and also on shore, for many years, was found dead Monday about two miles from his deer hunting camp in Lake county. Fellow huntsmen, and Lake county coroner, believe the man had been dead since early Sunday morning, and that he died suddenly from heart trouble.
During the past few years, Mr. “Billy” Petersen, who is 58 years of age, has been caretaker at Greenbrae on the estate of Clarence McCarthy.
Private funeral service was held in San Rafael Tuesday from the Keaton and Dusel chapel, with cremation in Oakland, the same day. By request his ashes will be scattered over the deer country in Lake county, where Petersen spent much of his vacations, hunting.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Emily Petersen; a brother, Albert J. Petersen, and his aged mother, Mrs. Katherine Flohr, who is seriously ill, and does not know of her son’s sudden death.
Mr. Petersen was a native of California and a member of the Scandinavian Club.
