J. RICHARD TEMPLETON
J. Richard Templeton of Petaluma, a former Fairfax restaurant owner, died June 12 at Kaiser Hospital in San Rafael. He was 71.
Mr. Templeton was born and reared in Lititz, Penn. He moved to California in 1950. He lived in Marin County from 1953 to 1978. He lived in San Francisco for five years before moving to Petaluma last year.
He attended Lancaster Business College in Pennsylvania.
During World War II, he served in the Army’s Fourth Armored Division with Gen. George Patton. He received a Purple Heart for service in France.
Mr. Templeton was in partnership with Gordon Jones of Petaluma for 32 years. They operated Rubini’s Restaurant in Fairfax for 17 years and also owned two restaurant in San Francisco.
Mr. Templeton retired in 1980.
He is survived by his mother, Sally A. Templeton, and a sister, Margaret Slote, both of Pennsylvania.
No services were held.
The family prefers memorial contributions to Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael.
