S. H. CERVANTES
Silvestere H. Cervantes, longtime Marin contractor, died today at a local convalescent hospital after a long illness.
Cervantes, 72, of Cotati, lived in the Los Ranchitos area of San Rafael for many years before moving about two years ago.
He was a pioneer sewer contractor in Marin and according to his son, Silvester H. Cervantes, “he probably put in most of the sewers in Novato.”
Cervantes helped found the San Anselmo Police Reserve and served in the National Guard during World War II. He was a native of Mexico and moved to Marin at the age of 23.
His son is carrying on the family business in Fairfax.
Surviving are his wife, Carolina, of Cotati; his son; two daughters, Irene Bianchi of San Geronimo, and Grace Borello of Point Reyes Station; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the Keating Chapel.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.
